Arnica is a perennial, herbaceous plant that is from the sunflower family. It is thought that the word "arnica" is derived from the Greek work "arni" which means "lamb" which refers to the soft hairy leaves of the plant. It is native to Europe but is now grown predominately in western North America. Arnica contains helenalin which is a sesquiterpene lactone, a major ingredient in anti-inflammatory preparations. It is known to be used to help heal wounds and is used externally to relieve aches and pains associated with bruises, sprains, swelling and inflammation. Do not use on open wounds. It is golden yellow in color with little to no odor. Ours is non-GMO.
