The aroma of our lavender fragrance oil is very similar to that of our lavender essential oil. It is fresh, clean, floral, earthy and herbaceous, reminding you of walking through a field of lavender on a warm, sunny day with a light breeze in the air. Use our lavender fragrance oil both in candles and body care products, including melt-and-pour soap, cold and hot process soaps, creams and lotion. We do not recommend use of fragrance oils in any lip care product, as they are not food grade and not safe to be ingested.

If the fragrance you are using contains vanilla as part of its composition, it may result in some natural brown discoloration in your finished bar of cold process soap. This is a completely natural reaction caused by the chemical interaction between the vanilla and the lye. Our lavender fragrance oil does not contain any vanilla, so it shouldn’t discolor your cold process soap.

Determining the amount of fragrance to use in a specific type of body care product is a combination of technical information relating to the fragrance you are using and your own personal preference. For each of our fragrances, we supply information from the International Fragrance Association’s (IFRA) standard on the maximum concentrations to use in specific types of body care products. Here are the IFRA Skin Exposure Levels for our lavender fragrance in some common body care products:

Using fragrance oils in products that might be ingested such as lip balms, mouthwashes or toothpaste is not allowed according to IFRA. Fragrance oils are not food grade. There are no restrictions for use in candles or other type of air freshener products.
It is important to remember that the usage levels listed above are the maximums recommended by IFRA and we do not recommend using more than these levels. There is also the component of personal preference. Everyone has different tolerance levels for any particular fragrance. We recommend to test out different amounts of new fragrances in your body care recipes to see what usage level works to make your products the most appealing for your customer base.
This product is Leaping Bunny certified. In 1996, a group of eight national animal protection organizations banded together to form the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC). The CCIC promotes a single comprehensive standard for being able to label body care products as “animal-friendly” or "cruelty-free." They also created an internationally recognized Leaping Bunny logo. The reason this coalition was formed was in order to educate consumers and to make shopping for cruelty-free products easier and more trustworthy.
