One of the world's oldest spices, pepper is native to south India but is now grown in many other tropical regions with Vietnam being the largest producer in the world currently. Pepper has been used since before the Middle Ages for both a flavoring for food and as traditional medicine. It was a favorite ingredient during the time of the Roman Empire and was such a valuable commodity in Europe during that time that it was often used as collateral or currency. In folk medicine, it was believed to cure constipation, insomnia, sunburn and toothaches. As far back as the 1840's the word "pepper" was used in a figurative sense meaning "spirit" or "energy". In the early 20th century, this word was shortened to "pep". Today, pepper accounts for one-fifth of the world's spice trade and is commonly used in cooking to flavor meat, soups, entrees, dressing and sauces. It is also used in aromatherapy diffusers for the healing properties it provides as well as in massage oils, creams and lotions for its skin warming attributes. If using black pepper in an essential oil blend, it works well with clary sage, frankincense, geranium, lavender, orange, rosemary, tea tree, vetiver and ylang ylang.

Purity and Grading
All of our essential oils are 100% pure, undiluted oils. We strive to source the highest quality oils from established, reputable suppliers that value purity, sustainability and natural practices. We are often questioned by customers whether our oils are “therapeutic grade”.
The term “therapeutic grade” was created and trademarked by newer essential oil companies to differentiate their products from others on the market. The truth of the matter is that the Food and Drug Administration does not certify the quality of essential oils as “therapeutic grade” nor do they provide a certifying label. GloryBee Essential Oils provide the same quality, purity, and reputability as therapeutic grade oils – often times at a lower prices.
