Using the right type, size and quality of wick to make your candles is important to achieve optimal burn performance. We have been working with our wick supplier for over 15 years to make sure we provide a variety of types and the highest quality possible. Our HTP (high temperature paper) wicking is made of high-performance fibers along with other natural materials and it is engineered with a specially constructed braid which produces a more predictable wick posture. It provides the benefit of a self-trimming wick along with the rigidity found in core wicks. Especially well-suited for tough-to-burn wax formulations containing many additives, it is an excellent choice for soy wax.
We recommend to use HTP wicking to make container candles, votives and tea lights using beeswax or soy wax. Looking for wicks for other types of candles? Click here for a free downloadable PDF explaining what wick to use for every type of candle.
Our HTP wicking comes in 4 different sizes ensuring that there is a size that meets your needs. The size to use depends on the width of the candle you are making and the type of wax you are using. Here are general guidelines to help you choose the right size of wick.
Small HTP Wicking
Medium HTP Wicking
Large HTP Wicking
X-Large HTP Wicking
Note: The guidelines listed above are for using beeswax or another type of natural wax, such as soy wax. In general, beeswax and soy wax require a wicking that is 1 to 2 sizes larger than what is needed for candles made with paraffin. We provide these as a general recommendation to help you with your wick selection. Many variable exist in making candles (how well the wax is filtered, fragrance, type of wax, etc.). Your final wick selection should be based on your own burn testing process. GloryBee is not responsible for wick selections made using the reference material we provide. We recommend for you to conduct extensive testing and then to keep samples of your tests for future reference.
