Basil is a very well-known culinary herb from the mint family. The word basil is derived from the Greek word "basilikon phuton" which means royal or kingly plant. It is commonly referred to as the "king of herbs." It has been used for centuries in many different cultures for different rituals and beliefs. The ancient Egyptians and ancient Greeks believed it would open the gates of heaven for a person passing on. In Jewish folklore, it is said to add strength while fasting. In modern times, it is used for a wide variety of reasons as well. Linalool, its main chemical component, is known to reduce feelings of tension and stress. It blends well with other essential oils including bergamot, black pepper, Himalayan cedarwood, geranium, grapefruit, lavender and lemon. Use to make creams, lotions, massage oils, cleaning products and insect repellants. It is also a wonderful essential to use in an aromatherapy diffuser or to add a fresh, herbal flavor to your pasta dishes and other entrees.

Purity and Grading
All of our essential oils are 100% pure, undiluted oils. We strive to source the highest quality oils from established, reputable suppliers that value purity, sustainability and natural practices. We are often questioned by customers whether our oils are “therapeutic grade”.
The term “therapeutic grade” was created and trademarked by newer essential oil companies to differentiate their products from others on the market. The truth of the matter is that the Food and Drug Administration does not certify the quality of essential oils as “therapeutic grade” nor do they provide a certifying label. GloryBee Essential Oils provide the same quality, purity, and reputability as therapeutic grade oils – often times at a lower prices.
