Description

Our light walnut halves and pieces are of the English variety grown in California which produces 99% of the total US supply of English walnuts. A nutrient dense whole food, they contain on average 15% protein, 65% fat, 14% carbohydrates and 7% fiber. They are also rich in the dietary mineral manganese, B vitamins and Omega 3's. Since 2016, the US FDA allows for products containing walnuts to state a Qualified Health Claim which reads "Supportive but not conclusive research shows that eating 1.5 ounces per day of walnuts, as part of a low saturated fat and low cholesterol diet and not resulting in increased caloric intake, may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease."

Our light walnut halves and pieces are mostly comprised of nuts that are of a light, natural light walnut color. A tolerance of 15% by weight is provided for kernels darker than light. They meet USDA standards and inspected by the DFA. They are processed and packaged in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) under sanitary conditions.

Storage

Product shelf life is dependent on storage conditions and is highly variable.  Walnuts should be stored under cool, dry, odor free conditions away from direct sunlight at 35 - 40 degrees F (1.7 - 7.2 degrees Celsius). The industry standard for shelf life, when stored under optimum conditions, is 24 months from date of manufacture.
